Frequently Asked Questions

microblading FAQ

What is microblading?

Microblading is a semi-permanent cosmetic tattoo that uses hair-thin strokes to provide a client with the optimal shape, color, density, and thickness of brows. This provides a very natural look compared to permanent cosmetics and/or tattooing.

How do you choose the brow design?

We work together to find a shape that works for your face shape and hair color. You may also feel free to bring in pictures of eyebrows that you like. As for the color, I will test multiple shades to find the best one that fits you. I am also able to mix pigments to create a totally customized look. Lastly, the brow design will follow your natural hair patterns to provide you with brows that look natural and complimenting

What happens during my procedure?

During your consultation we will discuss the treatment in its entirety and together decide on most complimentary shape, color, thickness, and density that the client wishes to have. We will then continue with the pre drawing process where I take care to draw out your new brow design with accuracy and precision. After your first round of numbing we then proceed with the microblading portion.

How long will my microblading last?

This can vary from client to client. It can last from 12- 18 months with proper care. Medications, face products, sun exposure and skin condition can change the durability.

What is a touch up session?

The touch up session is 4-6 weeks after the initial appointment. This is to allow the brows to heal as well as to give the client time to get adjusted to their brows. At the touch up session we will talk about if the client wishes to make any changes in regards to color, thickness, density etc. We will then touch up the brows according to those preferences.

What is a color boost?

A color boost occurs anywhere from 6-14 months after the initial procedure. This is used to maintain your microblading over time and provide a refresher for your brows.

Does microblading hurt?

A numbing cream is applied one time before the procedure and two more times during the procedure to ensure that it is a comfortable experience. You will feel slight pressure and might feel it as a little scratchy towards the end.

Who is NOT a good candidate for microblading?

If you have lupus and it is not controlled by medication, diabetics, and women who are pregnant or nursing.

eyelash extensions faq

What are eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions are individual strands of synthetic yarn fibers made to replicate a natural eyelash. When applied, eyelash extensions lengthen and thicken your own natural eyelashes. The strands are applied to each individual eyelash, one by one. With proper application, lash extensions look and feel completely natural.

What are classic lashes?

Individual lashes, one eyelash extensions per one real lash. These look best on clients who have a lot of natural lashes, or who are wanting a look that seems a bit more natural. One hour and 45 minutes is required for a full set of eyelashes. Fills are one hour long.

What are hybrid lashes?

A 50/50 mix of classis lashes and volume lashes that creates a beautiful textured look. These are great for clients with any type of lashes or for those who are ready for an upgrade from their classic lashes! Two and hours is required for a full set of eyelashes. Fills are one hour long.

What are volume lashes?

Fans and fluff! These fans are handmade by me, multiple lash extensions per one natural lash. Contrary to popular belief, these lashes are actually lighter in weight than your classic lashes and tend to last longer in between fills! These are great for all types of lashes and an excellent option for clients with minimal natural lashes. Three hours are required for a full set of eyelashes. Fills are one hour and fifteen minutes long.

How long will a set of eyelash extensions last?

Eyelash extensions will last the length of the natural growth cycle of your own eyelashes. Depending on your activity and day-to-day routine, fills should only be required every 2 to 4 weeks.

Are eyelash extensions safe?

I only use professional grade adhesive which never comes in contact with your skin. Our adhesive is latex free and formaldehyde free. Synthetic eyelashes adhere about 1 mm away from your skin to ensure no irritation.

Can I apply mascara to my eyelash extensions?

NO! Our eyelash extensions are designed to give your natural lashes an improved look of fullness and length, so mascara is not needed. However, we do offer a water-based sealant mascara to be used only on classic eyelash extensions for those who feel the need for a little more glamour.

Can I swim, shower, exercise, or visit a spa while wearing eyelash extensions?

Yes. We do ask you to minimize the chance of wetting the extensions for the first 24 hours of wear. After that 24 hour period, the adhesive used to apply your eyelash extensions is secure enough to allow you to get right back to your routine. However, keeping away from extensive contact with steam such as in saunas or certain facials is recommended since it can begin to loosen the bond.

How do I dry my eyelash extensions?

After cleansing your eyelashes with your eyelash cleanser, brush your extensions with a clean mascara wand and use a lint-free cloth to gently apply pressure to the bottom of your extensions while keeping your eyes closed. An even gentler option after brushing is to dry your extensions using a small handheld fan. Using the fan to lightly blow air onto your extensions dries them in no time and helps to keep the shape! After fanning, don’t forget to brush again with a clean mascara wand.

How do I take care of my new eyelash extensions?

Do not get extensions wet for 24 hours after application.
Avoid rubbing and pulling your eyelashes.
Do not use any oil based or waterproof mascara, eyeliner, or makeup remover.
Only use mascara on your bottom lashes.
Do not use an eyelash curler on your extensions.
Cleanse your extensions with Lash Bath daily to avoid buildup.
Book a fill appointment every 2-3 weeks (when you have 40% or more left) to fill in areas where your natural lashes have fallen out and new lashes are growing in.

Is the product FDA approved? Is it safe?

Currently, the FDA is not regulating eyelash extensions because the eyelash extensions are applied to the natural eyelash hairs and do not touch the skin. The application process is pain-free. Most clients consider the process relaxing and even sleep through the appointment.

How long will it take to apply eyelash extensions and how is it done?

The application process for lash extensions normally takes about one to three hours for a full set of lashes depending on which kind are being applied. Fills range from 45 minutes to an hour and fifteen minutes. You will lay comfortably on a massage table with your eyes closed while relaxing music is played. During application, your lower lashes will be covered and the extensions will be applied only to your upper lashes one at a time.

How do I choose the look I want?

I will consult with you to understand what type of style you are interested in and what look will work best with your natural lashes. The overall look of the lashes can range from very natural to very voluminous!

Do I have to do anything to prepare for the service?

Use an oil free makeup remover to remove any eye makeup, mascara, and oil. Lashes should not be permed or manually curled at the time of appointment.

waxing FAQ

How long should my hair be for waxing?

waxing faq

How often should I get my waxing treatment?

Every four to six weeks. Regular waxing is essential. The skin will be less sensitive if waxing is done on a routine schedule. Over time, with regular waxing, the hair follicle will have less and less of a grip on the hair to be pulled and the hairs will come out more easily.

Is there anything I should do before my waxing appointment?

Yes. Refrain from taking a shower or bath immediately before the treatment. Soaking the hair will soften it, allowing it to break more easily and making waxing less effective. Make sure the hair is the appropriate length for waxing. Make sure that the area(s) to be waxed are clean and free of any heavy lotions or creams. Always inform your technician if you are using any of the following: topical exfoliants such as Retin-A, Renova, and hydroquinone, oral acne medications such as Accutane, blood-thinning medications, and topical/oral cortisone.

What should I expect after my first waxing treatment?

Hairless skin! Everyone’s skin reacts differently to waxing treatments, but you can expect to have temporary redness and minor irritation for about 24 hours. If you’re waxing for a special occasion, I recommend receiving waxing a month before your special day to see how your skin reacts. If everything is fine, schedule another wax a few days before your event.

Will I get ingrown hairs?

It’s possible. Waxing removes the entire hair, root and all, from the follicle. Your skin naturally hardens and thickens over the area that was waxed so it is important to keep that area gently exfoliated. Use PFB or gentle exfoliating gloves in that area two days after waxing and continue to exfoliate 1 to 2 times a week thereafter. Try to wear loose-fitting clothes for a few days after to give your skin a chance to breathe and reduce moisture.

How can I prevent ingrown hairs?

For the next 24-48 hours after your wax avoid the following: use of exfoliating products on the waxed areas, direct sun exposure and tanning beds, creams with fragrance or ingredients that may irritate, deodorant, wearing tight clothing, excessive heat, such as that from hot tubs and saunas, and touching the freshly waxed area. After 24-48 hours, regular exfoliation with a shower gel and loofah or exfoliating glove will help keep skin soft and prevent ingrown hairs.

How do I benefit from waxing?

While shaving crops the hair at the skin’s surface, waxing pulls it out by the root, so it grows back softer, finer, and thinner. Waxing is great for those who are tired of the hassle of shaving several times per week. The more you wax, the less hair grows back.

Can I shave between waxing appointments?

No. Please do not shave between waxing appointments. It disrupts the hair growth cycle resulting in more hair at your next appointment.

Will waxing make my hair grow back thicker/stronger/darker?

Absolutely not. Waxing does not cause you to grow more hair follicles. In fact, if you become a regular waxer, you will notice that your hair will become quite sparse and not as coarse. A properly waxed hair is removed from the root, and when the hair starts to grow back it is a new hair, very fine at the tip, so no stubble.
